Kitagawa Keiko and Osamu Mukai to Star in Paradise Kiss

The October issue of Shodensha’s women’s fashion magazine, Zipper, has announced that Yazawa Ai‘s (known for manga NANA as well) manga, Paradise Kiss, will be made into a live-action film. The film will star Keiko Kitagawa (Buzzer Beat, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon’s Sailor Mars) and Osamu Mukai (Honey and Clover, Nodame Cantabile, Mei-chan no Shitsuji, Beck).  Natsuki Kato, Omasa Aya, Kento Kaku, Igarashi Shunji, and Yamamoto Yusuke will be supporting characters, seen below in order from list (left to right). The movie is to be released in Japan in 2011.

The manga is centered around a high school student named Yukari Hayasaka (Kitagawa Keiko) who is discovered by “Paradise Kiss”, a group of up-and-coming fashion school students including Joji “George” Koizumi (Osamu Mukai). The students transform Yukari (now nicknamed “Caroline”) into a fashion model, and she discovers a new passion for a future career and potential romance in her personal life. The manga ran for 5 volumes between 1999 – 2003. Paradise Kiss has also been adapted to a 12 episode anime which aired in October to December of 2005.
