July 15, 2011

Mizusawa Erena has her first starring role in the upcoming movie, Switch wo Osu Toki. Does she sound unfamiliar? Well, some might know of her from TBS‘s drama adaption of the popular movie, Koizora. Koide Keisuke is also starring alongside Mizusawa. Let’s not forget who else is in it: Sano Kazuma, Atae Shinjiro from AAA, Taiga, Sakamoto Shogo, Kanno Rio, Fukushi Seiji, Suzuki Sawa, Ogura Hisahiro, Tanaka Tetsushi, and Nishimura Masahiko. Quite the list. The movie is to be released on September 17.

The story revolves around a government-sponsored project aimed at determining the causes of suicide. 10 young boys and girls are held in captivity and pushed to their limits, with the option of pressing a “switch” that would result in their own death. After 7 years, only 6 of them, including a girl named Masami (Mizusawa), have retained their will to live. However, a mysterious man named Minami (Koide) is newly assigned as one of the observers on the project, and he becomes another obstacle in their battle to survive.

Switch wo Osu Toki is based on the novel of the same title by Yamada Yusuke. The novel had an drama adaption starring Narumiya Hiroki. It also had astage play that starring Nagayama Takashi.

First Impression: Juui Dolittle

October 31, 2010

Juui Dolittle (獣医ドリトル) immediately dropped under my radar after hearing that Oguri Shun, Narimiya Hiroki, and Inoue Mao were the lead cast members. This drama may also be known by its English title Veterinarian Dolittle. I haven’t read the manga, but I was certainly interested in its story and  the cast members. Narimiya Hiroki has been a favorite of mine since watching him on Orange Days, while Inoue and Oguri caught my fancy in Hana Yori Dango. I actually walked into this drama thinking it would be comedy and human drama. Well, I was wrong. Haaaa!  Juui Dolittle aired on October 17, 2010.

miwa New Single Picked as Juui Dolittle’s Theme Song

September 30, 2010

Twenty year old Japanese singer and songwriter, miwa, will be realeasing a new single titled, Otoshimono (Lost Item) on December 1st. The track will be used in this fall’s drama, Juui Dolittle starring Oguri Shun, Inoue Mao, and Narimiya Hiroki.

miwa created the song after reading the script for Juui Dolittle, and said, “I have noticed that you notice important things, such as trust or bonds, when you are about to lose it. So I made this song with a hope to take back the important things I have lost.”

miwa has released six singles, two of them being indies. She broke from the indie scene and made her major debut with Sony Music Records on March 3, 2010 with her single don’t cry anymore. For any Bleach fans out there, you may recognize her from her recent single, chAngE, which was used as Bleach‘s 12th opening theme. Check out the PV after the cut! Read the rest of this entry ?

Keeping You Updated On Juui Dolittle

September 18, 2010

We finally get to see one of those promotion picture that the staff’s blog was talking about! Also, I discovered that Juui Dolittle is spelled with one O. All this time I’ve been putting doubles. Juui Dolittle makes its premiere on October 17 and I also found out who is subbing for the drama. Ouji to Hime, a LiveJournal community, and Mao Inoue forum will be collaborating to sub Juui Dolittle. DramaWiki has added a synopsis as well:

Tottori Kenichi is a foul-mouthed but gifted veterinarian nicknamed Dolittle. His catch phrase is ‘pet care means business’. He is the director of his animal clinic and rescues not only ‘voiceless’ pets but also helps their owners, who lack understanding and caution, with their problems and worries. Working with him is animal nurse Tajima Asuka. Hanabishi Masaru is Dolittle’s rival, a charismatic vet and director of another animal hospital who has not only an opposite personality but also a different stance towards pet care. The drama focuses on the love triangle between those 3 and tries to teach the viewers about human-pet relationships.

Juui Doolittle is Underway

September 14, 2010

During my free time, I happen to stumble upon two diary entries from the staff diary of Juui Doolittle, the upcoming fall drama starring Oguri Shin, Inoue Mao, and Narimiya Hiroki. On September 11, Juui Doolittle started with shooting for the poster, script reading, and did a few interviews for TV guides. During the shoot, there was plenty of cute animals on set. I wonder what that animal on the left is. Also, Shun introduced Mao to Hiroki so there was a comfortable atmosphere!

Anyway, apparently many people from the staff is from Hana Yori Dango! Now, this is just too ironic. Shun and Mao were part of the main cast of Hana Yori Dango, now there’s some staff members as well? Hehe, I just find this too funny!

Check out the latest English translated entry from the staff diary after the cut. Read the rest of this entry ?
