This post focuses on ten short reviews of Japanese dramas that I have watched including the popular Hana Yori Dango and 1 Litre of Tears. I had put this particular piece on its own page, but I feel that it has been in the back burner. I mean, I’ve even forgotten about it until I happened to find it. So, here it is! These set of reviews are not as profound as my reviews of other dramas, however, I have rated them. 1 being the lowest score and 5 being the highest which means utterly awesomeness! Be aware that these were written when I first started my blog and I tried my best to remember the drama. I also did add a few more details to the ones that didn’t have so much detail! So… I guess you can say this is kind of my recycled one year gift for all my readers! Haha!
1 Litre of Tears / 1リットルの涙:This is definitely a heartbreaking drama. Once I finished watching this I started seeing life in a whole different perspective. I loved the cast and the soundtrack. Just about everything was spot on for me, though I wish Aya’s romantic interest was a bit more focused on. I highly recommend this drama, this is a tearjerker so bring out the tissues!4.5/5 Read the rest of this entry ?
Juui Dolittle (獣医ドリトル) immediately dropped under my radar after hearing that Oguri Shun, Narimiya Hiroki, and Inoue Mao were the lead cast members. This drama may also be known by its English title Veterinarian Dolittle. I haven’t read the manga, but I was certainly interested in its story and the cast members. Narimiya Hiroki has been a favorite of mine since watching him on Orange Days, while Inoue and Oguri caught my fancy in Hana Yori Dango. I actually walked into this drama thinking it would be comedy and human drama. Well, I was wrong. Haaaa! Juui Dolittle aired on October 17, 2010.
Since I am inactive over the weekdays, I’ve decided to combine the reports on the weekends unless there’s only one! All the reports will lead you to UnleashTheGeek, where unleashthegeek and GrumpyGeek translate Japanese entertainment news and blogs. You can read the reports, which they call volumes, there!
The preview last until 1:11 and switches on to Guilty, Akuma to Keiyakushita Onna which will be released on October 12. And yes, Tamaki Hiroshi is in it! I believe the song used is miwa‘s song, Otoshimono (Lost Item), which will be used as the theme song. Let’s cross our fingers for a great storyline, 16 more days to go!
Twenty year old Japanese singer and songwriter, miwa, will be realeasing a new single titled, Otoshimono (Lost Item) on December 1st. The track will be used in this fall’s drama, Juui Dolittle starring Oguri Shun, Inoue Mao, and Narimiya Hiroki.
miwa created the song after reading the script for Juui Dolittle, and said, “I have noticed that you notice important things, such as trust or bonds, when you are about to lose it. So I made this song with a hope to take back the important things I have lost.”
miwa has released six singles, two of them being indies. She broke from the indie scene and made her major debut with Sony Music Records on March 3, 2010 with her single don’t cry anymore. For any Bleach fans out there, you may recognize her from her recent single, chAngE, which was used as Bleach‘s 12th opening theme. Check out the PV after the cut! Read the rest of this entry ?
I wonder how many volumes the “Keeping You Updated On Juui Dolittle” will last for. I’ll be having diary entries from the staff and actors. Once promotions and interviews are underway, there will be no more reports! Today’s report is from a staff, check it out after the cut! Read the rest of this entry ?
We finally get to see one of those promotion picture that the staff’s blog was talking about! Also, I discovered that Juui Dolittle is spelled with one O. All this time I’ve been putting doubles. Juui Dolittle makes its premiere on October 17 and I also found out who is subbing for the drama. Ouji to Hime, a LiveJournal community, and Mao Inoue forum will be collaborating to sub Juui Dolittle. DramaWiki has added a synopsis as well:
Tottori Kenichi is a foul-mouthed but gifted veterinarian nicknamed Dolittle. His catch phrase is ‘pet care means business’. He is the director of his animal clinic and rescues not only ‘voiceless’ pets but also helps their owners, who lack understanding and caution, with their problems and worries. Working with him is animal nurse Tajima Asuka. Hanabishi Masaru is Dolittle’s rival, a charismatic vet and director of another animal hospital who has not only an opposite personality but also a different stance towards pet care. The drama focuses on the love triangle between those 3 and tries to teach the viewers about human-pet relationships.
During my free time, I happen to stumble upon two diary entries from the staff diary of Juui Doolittle, the upcoming fall drama starring Oguri Shin, Inoue Mao, and Narimiya Hiroki. On September 11, Juui Doolittle started with shooting for the poster, script reading, and did a few interviews for TV guides. During the shoot, there was plenty of cute animals on set. I wonder what that animal on the left is. Also, Shun introduced Mao to Hiroki so there was a comfortable atmosphere!
Anyway, apparently many people from the staff is from Hana Yori Dango! Now, this is just too ironic. Shun and Mao were part of the main cast of Hana Yori Dango, now there’s some staff members as well? Hehe, I just find this too funny!
TBS will begin airing Juui Doolittle (獣医ドリトル; Veterinarian Doolittle) during the Autumn quarter, which means it will start in October. It will air on Sundays at 9:00PM. The drama is based on a manga with the same title written by Natsu Midori and illustrated by Makiyoshi Chikuya. We have Oguri Shun as our lead and Narimiya Hiroki and Inoue Mao as supporting characters!~ THIS…! THIS…! THIS CAST IS LOVE! ♥ Read the rest of this entry ?
Oguri Shun held an event for his first movie as a director, “SURELY SOMEDAY“, at the Tokyo International Forum on the July 11th. At the Tokyo International Forum, the cast and Shun watched the movie with an audience and Oguri said, “Wow, that was a great movie!“. The movie will be released in Japan on July 17, 2010.
WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?! Oguri Shun directing? Well, I read that he was secretly filming the movie last summer, so that might be why I did not hear about it sooner. And I never really bumped into information about this…. All right I did actually. I was surfing through Koide Keisuke and Tsumabaki Satoshi‘s work and SURELY SOMEDAY came up. I failed to notice that Oguri Shun was the director, way to pay attention Chukuma!
01/15/12 - It's been almost five months since I last been on. I just got out of the drama phase. I most likely won't be doing any reviews unless I do get back into my phase which isn't anytime soon. I'm busy with classes and my laptop charger is not working so I have to use my friend's computer! Hope this site is good for drama lovers looking for reviews and underrated artists insight! :)
