That video. The one up there. That’s the teaser for Paradise Kiss. Remember back last August when I mentioned Yazawa Ai‘s Paradise Kiss will be made into a live-action movie starring Kitagawa Keiko and Osamu Mukai? Well, the Japanese film site, Movie Collection, has uploaded the first teaser for Paradise Kiss to their YouTube Channel. For those anticipating to watch, Paradise Kiss will be released sometime in May of this year.

Mukai Osamu will star in his first leading role for the movie called Bokutachi wa Sekai wo Kaerukotoga Dekinai, But, We wanna build a school in Cambodia. The upcoming movie is based on a book that was published privately in 2008 by a student of Nippon Medical School, Hada Kota. Kota described his vivid memories in building a school in Cambodia with his colleagues.
Kota and his colleagues began a campaign to raise funds after knowing that ￥1,500,000 ($18,465 USD) could build a school in Cambodia. The group also visited Cambodia as volunteers. Although they started it without giving it much thought, the volunteers became more invested in the project after seeing the horrors of civil war in Cambodia with their own eyes.
The book was able to catch the eyes of a producer and Mukai was casted after it was learned that he stayed in Cambodia on a television show called Sekai Ururun Taizaiki in 2007. Mukai stayed in Cambodia with his host family and assisted with extracting land mines and cultivate mango patches alongside them. Mukai has confessed that the host family is like his precious second family.
According to Sanspo, Mukai received many offers, however, he chose this project because he said that nobody besides him could play that role. The shoot in Cambodia will start in the middle of November, and the movie will be released sometime in Fall 2011.
Remember some time ago when Kitagawa Keiko and Osamu Mukai were confirmed for the lead of the upcoming movie Paradise Kiss? Well, Kitagawa Keiko posted a new entry on her blog about her stay in New York and filming Paradise Kiss while there.
I was in New York for filming. I think New York is similar to Tokyo, so I didn’t feel like I was abroad, but for me to feel the foreign atmosphere was a good stimulus. Although this was my first time in New York, America is one of my favorite countries because of its rejuvenating influence. Since I was able to take back my ‘real’ self there, I will work hard in Japan once again starting tomorrow!

The October issue of Shodensha’s women’s fashion magazine, Zipper, has announced that Yazawa Ai‘s (known for manga NANA as well) manga, Paradise Kiss, will be made into a live-action film. The film will star Keiko Kitagawa (Buzzer Beat, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon’s Sailor Mars) and Osamu Mukai (Honey and Clover, Nodame Cantabile, Mei-chan no Shitsuji, Beck). Natsuki Kato, Omasa Aya, Kento Kaku, Igarashi Shunji, and Yamamoto Yusuke will be supporting characters, seen below in order from list (left to right). The movie is to be released in Japan in 2011.
