The Short Reviews

July 3, 2011

This post focuses on ten short reviews of Japanese dramas that I have watched including the popular Hana Yori Dango and 1 Litre of Tears. I had put this particular piece on its own page, but I feel that it has been in the back burner. I mean, I’ve even forgotten about it until I happened to find it. So, here it is! These set of reviews are not as profound as my reviews of other dramas, however, I have rated them. 1 being the lowest score and 5 being the highest which means utterly awesomeness! Be aware that these were written when I first started my blog and I tried my best to remember the drama. I also did add a few more details to the ones that didn’t have so much detail! So… I guess you can say this is kind of my recycled one year gift for all my readers! Haha!

1 Litre of Tears / 1リットルの涙: This is definitely a heartbreaking drama. Once I finished watching this I started seeing life in a whole different perspective. I loved the cast and the soundtrack. Just about everything was spot on for me, though I wish Aya’s romantic interest was a bit more focused on.  I highly recommend this drama, this is a tearjerker so bring out the tissues! 4.5/5 Read the rest of this entry ?

Ikuta Toma in Final Fantasy XIV CM

September 14, 2010

Just calm down, Ikuta Toma. What I’m saying is true, honestly! At the Final Fantasy game promotional event yesterday (Sep. 14, Japan Time), it was announced that Toma would be starring in the game’s commercial.

Ikuta has been a fan of Final Fantasy series for years and he said, “I’ve been playing Final Fantasy since I was at primary school. I was really excited to be inside the Final Fantasy world. There was so much attention to detail on my armor it got me hyped up and it was a lot of fun. ”

The commercial has both 15 and 30 second versions, and will go on air in Japan September 22. Final Fantasy14 is for Windows will go on sale from September 30 while the PS3 version is scheduled to be released in March 2011. The making of and trailer is after the cut! Read the rest of this entry ?

First Impression: Unubore Deka

August 3, 2010

Mika Nakashima — Ichiban Kirei na Watashi o (一番綺麗な私を)

There’s a bunch of crime/police drama running this summer. Unubore Deka, or Unubore Keiji, is one of them, but it takes a more humorous approach instead of the serious kind. I didn’t recognize the cast aside from Nakashima Mika and Ikuta Toma, I do know Nagase Tomoya, I just didn’t know his name! I saw his picture and I instantly recognized him from My Boss My Hero, Tiger & Dragon, and Utahime. Knowing that, I had to check out this drama. Unubore Deka first aired on July 9, 2010 with a rating of 12.2.

EDIT (8/15): Screen shots are in high quality.

Upcoming Summer J-Dramas, 2010

June 30, 2010

July is right around the corner, which means Japanese dramas will kick off in a couple of days or in a few weeks. Now, I didn’t put every single upcoming drama down, since that would be a bit too much for me. I did list dramas that have captured my attention or have actors that I like. As for checking out all these dramas, maybe I will, but I shall be checking out a few. It depends on my schedule and if I can find any in English subtitles. If you are curious about other upcoming dramas aside from these (in the post), check out this forum at Crunchyroll.
